Working conditions, careers and salaries of caregivers
The job of caregiver is relatively difficult. Schedules are often staggered, with the work at night, weekends and holidays. Career opportunities are varied against. There are many positions in hospital: clinical (public or private), hospital, care facility, retirement homes (frail elderly) or SSR (rehabilitation of people after hospitalization). But the caregiver can also work in the outpatient (municipal, county ...) with people with disabilities, older ... So Salaries vary according to occupation, sector of employment, seniority , working hours ... In the audience, the minimum wage of a caregiver is € 1,370 net. It is generally lower in the private sector. After three years in office, a caregiver can go to the entrance of the school of nursing.
The degree of caregiver
To work as a caregiver, you must have the qualification for nurse's aide. This is achieved through training in one of the training institutes as a caretaker (IFAS). But it is also possible to obtain this degree by the validation of professional experience. This requires proof of skills acquired eg through voluntary work. The main criterion is to have provided care for hygiene and comfort for at least three years. If the application for accreditation of prior experience is in order, the person must complete his education with a compulsory curriculum of 70 hours and present an oral to a jury.
Training Institutes Health Care Aide (IFAS)
For training in school, must pass an entrance examination. It is open to anyone aged 17 years or more. The competition comes in the form of a written test (nutrition and human biology), which then allows access to an oral (interview with a jury). Persons holding baccalaureate (or equivalent), a degree of health and social sector approved in the CAP V or Early Childhood are exempt from the written test.
Training for the profession of nursing aide
Training in the IFAS is divided into 17 weeks of theory and 24 weeks of training. Training includes eight separate modules (support in activities of daily life, clinical status, basic care, ergonomics, communication, local hospital hygiene, transmission of information and work organization). To get the diploma caregiver must both validate its assessments and training modules.
